Today.kz: Putin appointed Vasiliyev, an ethnic Kazakh, acting head of the Republic of Dagestan

Today.kz, in an article entitled “Путин назначил этнического казаха Васильева врио главы Дагестана” – “Putin has appointed Vasiliyev, an ethnic Kazakh, acting head of the Republic of Dagestan”, said: “Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of the head of the Republic of Dagestan, Ramazan Abdulatipov. Vice-speaker of the State Duma, chairman of the United Russia faction, Vladimir Vasilyev, was appointed acting head of the region”, Russia’s official TASS news agency reported.
“To accept the resignation of the head of the Republic of Dagestan, Abdulatipov Ramazan Gadzhimuradovich, and appoint Vasilyev Vladimir Abdualiyevich as acting head of the Republic of Dagestan pending the assumption of office by a person to be elected to head the Republic of Dagestan. This Decree shall come into effect on the date of signature”, the document reads”.
Vladimir Abdualievich Vasilyev, who was born on August 11, 1949, in Klin, Klinsky District, Moscow oblast, RSFSR, USSR, is a Russian politician. He was appointed as the acting head of Dagestan on 3 October 2017.
Earlier he was a deputy of the State Duma of the IV, V, VI and VII convocation, and a deputy speaker of the State Duma of the VI and VII convocation,[3] the head of the United Russia faction, chairman of the Duma committee on security (2004-2011), and Deputy Secretary of the Security Council (1999-2001), colonel-general of police.
During a meeting with Vasilyev in Kremlin, Putin said that he would expect Vasilyev to be able to show his best qualities and experience, accumulated during the years of work in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the State Duma.
He’s born to a Russian mother and a Kazakh father in Russia.
